Well, in future you may have little choice other than to buy local. And there may not be much to choose from: I was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and my Mom told me there were pretty slim pickin's on the grocery shelves in 1964. Nothing fresh except for potatoes, about the only thing that could be made to grow in the rocky soil, and some very wilted and abused greenstuff. Everything else came in a can or was salted. Granted, Victoria is not as isolated, but we are stuck on an island (I only remember this when I want to get off it!)
