I'm not entirely against harsh measures for people stealing library books... when I first decided I wanted to start reading some Nietzsche, I went into the public library to take out some books. I couldn't find any of the titles that were listed so I asked the librarian in my best trying-not-to-sound-like-i'm-in-grade-four voice where the titles were - she explained that fundamentalist christians regularly stole the books so other people couldn't read them. I was pretty pissed.
