In obedience to
ilna's command, I offer the following:
Start off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. At the end you need to choose six people to be tagged and list their names. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. No tagbacks!
Yes, she is right, I do like certain memes but I don't tag other folks. So please, do this on your own if you like.
Now, in no particular order (and you may know some of this already):
1. When I eat, I tend to eat the thing I like least first - e.g. the less appealing vegetables. This stems from my childhood core programming that one's plate must be clean and dry when finished eating.
2. I always wear a watch, except in the shower. I'm not particularly a Time Nazi (though I think being late is horribly rude and inconsiderate) but I need to know what time it is, constantly.
3. I do not drive. I learned to drive at a late age (22), but I hated it, realized I was a very bad driver and soon stopped. Haven't driven since. I still have a driver's license though. If you don't drive, people only think you are poor or eccentric - but if you do not have a driving license, you are some kind of criminal.
4. When I put on my shirt, I do up every second button to get it on me, then go back and do up the undone buttons. This is one way you will be able to tell if I have been replaced by a Pod Person.
5. I always carry the same items in the same pockets. I got into this habit in the Army. So left pants pocket = pens, keys, knife, right pants pocket = money, bus pass.
6. I have never wanted to write fiction. Maybe this isn't all that weird, but when you've spent as much time reading as I have, ----. Future generations will thank me for this, I know. The games were bad enough.
7. I always sleep on my right side. I did this even before my leg injury, which makes it uncomofortable to sleep on my left.
8. I am left-handed. Not weird, but maybe little-known. My cousin Hall called me today and mentioned in passing that over 99% of Fundamentalist Christians are right-handed, which may imply that an overly active left hemisphere sponsors rigidity of thought and an acceptance of absolute answers and solutions. Perhaps there's a neural centre that corresponds to religious belief? This made me think of Julian Jaynes' book on the bicameral mind, where he suggests that the human brain used to be divided into two halves, one of which shouted answers at the other through auditory hallucinations. I have to sit down and try to read this book thoroughly one day.
9. I like to cook and bake, but I still try to be pretty exact about measurements. This may change over time as I do more and more of it and get more familiar with recipes.
10. I haven't written about this, but as of now I am almost completely off Celexa (after more than four years on) and am feeling quite OK.
