Yoinked from milady

1. Favorite non-dairy milk?
None. Have a bit of milk in my coffee but that's all.
2. What are the top 3 dishes/recipes you are planning to cook?
Pea soup with Ham
Greek Chicken with rice
Chili
3. Topping of choice for popcorn?
a bit of salt.
4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure?
People tell me it was my Watermelon Chicken (chicken prepared with watermelon, not chicken-in-a-watermelon like http://ltmurnau.livejournal.com/150891.html), but I don't agree; I liked it, so there you Philistines. I have not had any spectacular failures (besides burning things), just things that turn out too bland for some.
5. Favorite pickled item?
Cucumber, dill
6. How do you organize your recipes?
I have a binder with page protectors, into which I shove recipes clipped from newspapers or printed small. Very roughly divided into categories.
7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal?
Vegetable and bread scraps in the compost, bones in the trash.
8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods…what would they be (don’t worry about how you’ll cook them)?
lentils, bacon, chicken.
9. Fondest food memory from your childhood?
my mother's oven-fried chicken.
10. Favorite ice cream?
Cherry.
11. Most loved kitchen appliance?
I have a big soup pot and a favourite wooden scraper thing.
12. Spice/herb you would die without?
Garlic.
13. Cookbook you have owned for the longest time?
The Natural Foods Cookbook. First one I ever bought. Hardly use it at all now.
14. Favorite flavor of jam/jelly?
blueberry
15. Favorite vegan recipe to serve to an omni friend?
Homey don't play that game. But I have made nice curried eggplant.
16. Seitan, tofu, or tempeh?
tofu
17. Favorite meal to cook (or time of day to cook)?
I like to cook in the afternoon, something that should cook most of the day, in time for dinner.
18. What is sitting on top of your refrigerator?
Melmac and glass pitchers
19. Name 3 items in your freezer without looking.
bacon, Mr. Freezes, and potstickers
20. What’s on your grocery list?
Bread.
21. Favorite grocery store?
Fairways at Shelbourne/Cedar Hill X is cheap and not too dirty.
22. Name a recipe you’d love to DEveganize, but haven’t yet.
Wrap it all in bacon! Works every time.
23. Food blog you read the most (besides Isa’s because I know you check it everyday). Or maybe the top 3?
I subscribe to
chicken_recipes.
24. Favorite candy/chocolate?
Dark chocolate, 70-80% is best.
25. Most extravagant food item purchased lately?
Paid too much for a synthetic strawberry turnover in a Union 76 gas station. They should have paid me to eat it.
26. How did you get so pretty?
Never met a kebab I didn't like!
[EDIT: It took eleven tries to get this posted. I think LJ is getting hiccupy again. Or maybe because it's Cyber Monday (in which I grudgingly participated, ordering the new Klaus Nomi album online!).
Weekend was a long one of acquisition and eating, with friends in Federal Way. Went to the Fantagraphics outlet store in desolate southern Seattle and the faraway Outlet Malls of North Bend. Lots interesting to see at the former (half price, yay) and nothing at the latter (half price, so what - it's crap anyway). Discussed next year's Beacon and brought home a nice loaner Mac to learn OS X and INDesign on.]
