Well, it was an OK weekend, even if I did not get a lot accomplished. Friday night regular coffee - as a weekly routine I leave work, go visit the cheap video place where Mr. Big and Tall was (so where do all the fat giant men in town go to get their clothes now? And why did this store go out of business, when there is a burgeoning plethora of Delta Burke-inspired BodyBagsForSaggyHags shops [though they always have euphemistic names, like everything else in this Cavern of Lies] in this town?), got House on Haunted Hill (the original one with Vincent Price, scared the bejeebers out of Aki when we watched it, even when I told him about the bit at the end of the movie when they slide the real skeleton out on a wire through the theatre and everyone would pelt it with candy and popcorn), The Fly (Cronenberg version, memorable for the scene of Geena Davis birthing a maggot) and 24 Hour Party People) then Value Village (this week I found a Bundeswehr sidecap I will try to dye black for the complete Panzer Commander look [anybody found anything generally available that works better than Rit? I don't want to bother with Tintex ever again] and a very warm army green wool shirt), then supper at one of those Chinese places that has dead animals hanging in the window.

Saturday my dad came over from Pender, we were to get and install two storm doors on my house as extra insulation. Surprise, there's no surprise - as my house was built in 1955, several years before they decided to start making things like doors and windows to a common standard, there are no cheap readymade ones to be had and custom ones will cost an arm and a leg. So, weatherstripping and one new door and an extra pane of glass in the windows will go some way to making the house more habitable - by the time we sell up and move it might even be comfortable.

Saturday afternoon I took wife and kiddy to the Cinecenta to see Pirates fo the Caribbean, which they had missed the first time through. They enjoyed it.

Sunday I slept in, baked in the afternoon and went to see Cowboy Bebop in the evening at Cinecenta. I wasn't expecting much and it wasn't much. There was an obnoxious -um- what collective noun would you use? A cel? - bunch of anime fans behind me who did not have even the basic courtesy to stop talking and laughing through the film. Times like these I feel like moving to the row of seats behind them and laughing my "laugh" laugh after every line while repeating the last word anyone said -

"wasting time...HAW HAW HAW HAW"
"fishing... HAW HAW HAW HAW"
"let's go...HAW HAW HAW HAW"

But the fans would think that Just Plain Rude of me (how dare anyone make noise during this great film, especially when they are trying to listen?), and I would be bothering other people who have nothing to do with them. So I don't do it. I admit it, I'm pathetic. But I am no more audibly an asshole than I need to be, which sets me apart from most pathetic people.

After the movie I stopped by CFUV studios and sat in on the Fish Show for a bit, something I have not done for a long time. When I left it had started raining, and it is still raining now. Yick.

So, ho-hum, there it is but at least I got some sleep.

If you'd like another chance to see the Cowboy Bebop movie minus loud people, I can bring you a copy of the fansub I made ages ago.. Watching it on your computer won't compare to the theatre, I'm sure, but I figured I'd offer.

Thanks just the same, but I did see and hear enough of the movie to come to the conclusion it was pretty boring as anime films go. But I resent paying $5.75 to have to listen to some underage otaku gooned out on Amaretto and milk (or worse) jabbering and giggling at each other. Bah!
