Movie Meme

1. What movie have you seen the most time[s] in the theater? How many times?
I don't go to theatres much. Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen is a treat; the Cinecenta used to run that every summer but not anymore it seems.

2. What was the last movie you walked out of in the theater?
Moulin Rouge. For some reason this was on a double bill with Mulholland Drive. I liked the Lynch but had developed a terrible headache, and the flashing and yelling on the MR soundtrack was like an assault.

3. What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
The Aristocats (1972).

4. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Repo Man! Iggy Pop, Suicidal Tendencies, FEAR, Circle Jerks...

5. Have you ever dressed up as a movie character for Halloween? If so, who?
No. I did dress up as The Prisoner once, though.

6. What was the first R-rated movie you ever saw? Were you allowed or did you sneak?
Apocalypse Now. Went with my dad.

7. Star Wars (orig. trilogy) or Lord of the Rings?
LOTR I suppose, but I don't like either so much that I would sit and watch either "saga" all through.

8. Pacino or DeNiro?
DeNiro.

9. Titanic...did it suck or was it great?
Never saw it. Never wanted to.

10. What's your take on Cassavetes?
I liked Johnny Staccato.

11. Favorite John Hughes character?
Steve Martin's character in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. What a hokey schmaltz-merchant that man is, though....

12. What movie gives you a boner (or makes you tingle)?
The lesbian scene in Mulholland Drive.

13. What movie always makes you cry like the big puss you are?
None, though I watched Barry Lyndon the other night and the overwrought scene where his little son dies is so pathetic I almost teared up....

14. What's the furthest you've ever gotten in a movie theater? (e.g., second base...)
Just a smooch, or holding hands. If I've paid for the movie, I want to see it...

15. Speaking of sports metaphors, what's your favorite sports movie?
None.

16. Favorite
(a) ... teen movie?
Red Dawn.

(b)...Quentin Tarantino movie?
I'll pass.

(c)...Bill Murray movie?
Ghostbusters I guess, though I know I'm supposed to say Caddyshack. Maybe The Razor's Edge for sheer thespian dissonance. The Life Aquatic has been recommended to me many times.

(d)...romantic comedy?
Beetlejuice, maybe?

(e)...gangster movie?
Scarface, I guess - I don't watch many of these.

(f)...horror movie?
Not sure, I've seen so many. I like Vincent Price, so most anything with him in it... perhaps Dr. Phibes, or Theatre of Blood.

(g)...made for TV movie?
Don't know.

(h)...director?
Stanley Kubrick.

(i)...drug movie?
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Or Drugstore Cowboy, which should be a really depressing film but every time I watch it I think things will be all right.

(j) ...war movie?
The Beast (Russian tank stuck in Afghanistan)

17. What movie have you seen but will never, ever, ever watch again?
Way too many.

18. What movie are you embarrassed to really like?
Pee-Wee's Great Adventure, though I'm not really embarassed to admit it.

19. What movie should be remade asap?
I don't know. I generally don't like remakes.

20. What's your favorite musical?
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T.

21. For the love of everything that's sacred, please someone stop (insert answer) from making another movie!
Adam Sandler. Unless it's a movie of him being taken to pieces with dull hacksaws, starting with the tongue. No, ending with the tongue....

22. What movie do all your friends love but you're not that crazy about?
American Beauty.

23. What movie do you love but none of your friends do?
Hard to say - most of my friends are on my movie wavelength.

24. If you could hump/date/marry any movie character, who would it be?
Hm, never thought about breaking the fourth wall that way... Lola from Run Lola Run, or Julia from 1984. I dunno, don't ask me why.

25. Best...movie....ever?
Repo Man!

26. Book you wish would be made into a movie, and who would direct it?
Not really sure. I'd like to see a well-done version of Count Zero, or any William Gibson book or story - Johnny Mnemonic was just plain bad, and New Rose Hotel was I believe an honest misfire.

The Razor's Edge is probably my top one, although not Murray's most hilarious.
