Do you suppose, in the end, they will have every child in the district penned into one school, in the geographic centre of the catchment area?

Looking at the map (http://www.sd61.bc.ca/html/districtmap.html), I figure Cedar Hill Park and Golf Course should be expropriated, an enormous big-box school should be built at the south end of it, and the rest turned over to sports fields - all of this financed by the sale of every school and parcel of land owned by the district.

It's more efficient that way. Economies of scale, you know....

[EDIT: Coming back from lunch today, I ran into John Young, the most gnomish of the Board of Trustees. I told him my plan for the Cedar Hill MegaSchool and I think he thought I was serious! Some people need more irony in their diet. He didn't have anything in particular to say that was new, save to reinforce for me that the Board is pretty much locked up by a 5-4 right-wing over left-wing split, so look for more of this in future. Oh, and the next time to elect your Trustees is the fall of 2009.]
