Long, Long Life To The Great Communicator!!!

I admit I don't follow entertainment news, but this little piece of revisionism tickled my glands:

CBS Pulling Reagan Miniseries
November 4, 2003

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - Following a storm of protest and threatened advertiser boycott, CBS announced Tuesday it was pulling "The Reagans" miniseries off the air.

The network said it was licensing the completed film to Showtime, a pay cable network that, like CBS, is owned by Viacom.

CBS insisted it was not bowing to pressure about portions of the script, but that the decision was made after seeing the finished film.

"Although the miniseries features impressive production values and acting performances, and although the producers have sources to verify each scene in the script, we believe it does not present a balanced portrayal of the Reagans for CBS and its audience," the network said in a statement.

As a broadcast network, CBS has different standards than a pay cable network, CBS said.

Emphasis mine. Harrumph.

In other news, I made another thrift store score yesterday at the Vincent de Paul - a large nylon Palestinian flag.
flag
It is currently hanging in the doorway to the kitchen to block drafts. Aki asked me what country's flag it was and I told him, whereupon he said, "Palestine, sounds like Frankenstein!" which I think betrays a certain acuity of political analysis on his part. Yessiree, that's m'boy....

God, I wish I did have the 7 Samurai. I completely forgot it was on at the Cinecenta! How could you have let me do this, aieee it will be years before it comes back to the big screen MOAN! SCREECH!

No, I don't have that one but I do have some other good Kurosawas: Ran, Throne of Blood, Kagemusha, Dreams, Do'desukaden, etc.

Sorry, I really do have to send you that list...
