The Prophecy Is Fulfilled

Last night was "Prophecy" at the Grindstone, a coffee shop across the street from Value Village. My Gothvic friend Gray was DJing there, so for once in Victoria there was some decent Goth and industrial music to listen to. I met Cookie Monster at UVic and we went downtown together - she had her lovely reddy-purple hair teased up anime-style, I could spot her silhouette a hundred yards away. Later we met up with Cookie's friend Scuttle, who I was very glad to meet and add as a Livejournal friend.
Grindstone is not a big place, and the show was in the upstairs room which is not much bigger than a generously sized living room. Sometimes, with the single blue light bulb and no one dancing, it was almost like a party in someone's basement (there are couches and things all over for people to sit on). Lots of people came out of the woodwork for the show - I saw a lot of people I've never seen before, new as I am to all this, but many of them had never heard of the Gothvic group on Yahoo, so I guess that night the Goth scene in Victoria doubled its ranks!
Gray played some older stuff (Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy etc.) which I really liked, and some newer stuff that was off-and-on good to dance to. Which I did, in my inimitable puppet-having-a-tantrum way. Sore legs today, but good rehab for the leg. I had a great time. There may be another night like this in mid-July, hopefully this will last beyond the summer.
It ended at 1:00, and Cookie and I walked Scuttle home after having something at Quan Valdez. I got home at 4:00, to be woken promptly at 8:30 - I thought Saturdays were for sleeping in, but some people have other ideas!
