Last week Robin came over and we worked on the Jellyfish (which is what I have decided to call the shade structure, from its red centre and the way it pulses in the breeze) and the Pantzooka.

Here is a still of the assembled weapon:

And here is a film of the loading and firing drill with two people - it should have a crew of three since it is a shoulder-controlled weapon, but someone had to run the camera.

I wish I had grown up doing stuff like that.

According to Wikipedia Germans consume 300 tonnes of dönner kebab per year, estimated at 1.5 billion Euros worth.

And more importantly I think I have perfected the pseudo-döner in meatless form. Even [livejournal.com profile] emperorkefka admitted it was the best he has had. Next we attempt Fanta made like what is called an Italian soda here.

It's not too late. I didn't grow up doing stuff like that either!

Are you coming to the Tuvan party on Saturday the 14? I e-mailed you an invite but it bounced.

Of course. It is already marked on the calender. Do you want food contributions?

Okay! Just make sure the calender is rotated to the correct position and the date is written in ballpoint. Otherwise you might erase it next time you do the laundry.

Uh, food - well, as usual the menu tends towards soaked-then-charred bits of animal so if you want to bring a salad or something, that's fine. I have to do some last-minute shopping next week and will pick up a veggie burger or two for you.

Ok. Could you forward me the email so I have time and directions and such? I remember vaguely where it is but not the right address. Coming with auto so it should be fine.

which independence do you celebrate? Fron Mongolian, Chinese or Soviet rule?

That's a good question.

Mongolian, on August 15, 1921. In Tuva it is called "Tuvan Republic Day".

Pantzooka. I see. (I don't have the Realtime player so I can't actually see. But you get my drift.)
Is this anything like a potato gun? PVC, flammable areosol, pressurized chamber, some kind of ignition...?

Your standard Windows Media Player should play this file. I'd make you an .avi but it would be over 19 megabytes in size.

Explanation of the reason for the Pantzooka, and its first iteration, is at http://www.livejournal.com/users/ltmurnau/15512.html#pantzooka.

This one is spring-powered. Range so far is about 20 feet.
