Pathetic Bit o' Fame

After the Remembrance Day ceremonies, Aki and I visited Curious Comics on Johnson St. I was surprised and very pleased to see that they had copies of my three games published by Fiery Dragon Press - Arriba Espana, Autumn Mist, Battle for China, the ones in the tin boxes - on the shelf !!

Chuff chuff... the clerk was mildly interested to know that the designer was a Local Boy.

Hooray for me!

Ooh... too bad I just bought a bazillion games for my Boy's Christmas presents... i think he'd like a little Spanish Civil War action...

Are they risk-esque, Puerto Rico-esque, or more role playery?

*yes, i play things, I just don't have the lingo down so it makes me sound like a dumbass girlfriend*

Have you checked out the new(er) shop near Tillicum - we've long since defected there, my guy greatly prefers it to the downtown shops. They do quite a lot of events.

They're rather sophisticated, as these things go, but not as much as some. Math is required. I lard my designs with a lot of politics and imponderables too. Pretty niche-y, which is why I was surprised to see them in that store.

I've been to the place near Tillicum, but it's hard for me to get there. I think I'm going to give up on Interactivity Games (by the Bay Centre).

The Tillicum place, the name of which currently escapes me, has Cthulu tournaments on Sunday afternoons - but also, I'm told, way better service, way more trustworthy ordering of stuff not currently in stock, and a wide selection of stuff actually In stock. And they don't focus on any one particular brand name of stuff, like that one place downtown does.

And the counter people don't act as if they've never seen a girl before, which is why I like it there. I take the #11, I like that aspect so much! They have events for kids, pokemon or magic or whatever little kids play these days, but also adult gaming nights (not Adult like adult or anything, but the more complex games that grown ups play - Cthhulu, game of thrones, etc.)

I really hope that guy makes it - he's so nice, and is nerdly in the good ways, without assuming a comic book guy attitude.

That is totally cool. I'm so glad I have a Famous Internet Boyfriend.

Cool stuff. I was in Curious on Friday and had a look at them. Not quite my arena, but congrats on the marketing.

I'm glad you had a look at them, at least. I didn't think they would be in that store, so I asked the clerk if he had "sold any", as opposed to "sold many".
