Yes, that means the EIGHTH annual Tuvan Independence Day celebration is on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at my house (5:00 pm until the last one of you flees) and if you are reading this, you're invited.

What is Tuva and why is it independent? Look it up, since you're already on the Inter Nets; you probably don't want to hear another of my tiresome explanations.

For those of you who have been before, it's The Usual; for those of you who haven't, bring: an open mind, YOB (we will have that simulated qumys again, it was popular last year) and maybe some food.

Dress in layers. This is a good rule for any time anyway.

My address is 1864 Fairburn Drive - take the #27 Gordon Head bus, get off at the second stop on Gordon Head Road, just past the blinking traffic light. Look for the house that looks as if it came from the set of Edward Scissorhands, with the red driveway.

I am bringing fried Mongolian khoorshoor dumplings done Hungarian style with spices and vegetable filling. Also kebabs for monkey-face and I. It is apparently how the Mongolian diaspora in Hungary cook them. Not super authentic, but I thought that is you can combine Japanese and Russian ingredients for your qumys, then I can do this.

Thanks! I'm doing something-similar dumplings with ground pork filling. Will you need to cook them at the party? I have a small gas stove you can use.

I could, but I think they will be ok pre-cooked. That stove scares me, and Kevin made fun of me last year for failing to light it right away. But then he failed too.

Don't be frightened. I think the gas bottle wasn't in right.

I will probably pre-cook mine too and just heat them up. There's a microwave if you need it but I think it will be a hot, sunny day.
