Bulging eyes abound about
The birthday boy today;
Screaming, "Creaming eyes!"
Screamed he,
His mother looked away.
"Creaming eyes explode upon
An apple pirate toad
And if an injun ate a plate
I'd laugh and live abode."

Nervousness itself was shifting
Guests against the door,
"Forgive us dear, but, uh, baking beer
It what we should be near."
"Bye," the bothered birthday boy said,
"Bye," the bothered birthday boy said,
"Bye or sell or bye,
Bye or sell or bye."

"Happy, happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to me he-he-hee,
Happy birthday to me..." etc.

Hey. I guess you found me through my recent post at [livejournal.com profile] khoomei. Are you interested in hanging out with the overtone crew from UVic? We're definitely interested in having more people come out, and it's not necessary to be a student at the university to participate. The Wednesday-night meetings are chaotic good fun, with a little bit of everything: dijeridu, jaw harp, overtones, Huun Huur Tu and David Hykes recordings, attempts at Khoomei, off-topic chatter, serious brainstorming, etc. In the past we also had a couple of beat-boxers show up. Numbers vary from just a handful to a dozen or more, both men and women. Most members are in their early twenties, but I'm 28, another guy is in his mid-twenties, and some occasional others have varied upwards from there. They tend to be on the bohemian side: friendly, creative, and quirky. Lemme know if you're interested.

Yes, that's how I found you. I'm older (41 now) and been interested in Tuva for eight or nine years. I got an instructional CD on how-to and have tried to make overtones, but I'm not sure I can even breathe properly. I've seen Huun-Huur-Tu twice and went to the Tyva Kyzy show two weeks ago on Bainbridge - it was good. I used to make faux-Mongolian musical instruments in my garage out of wire and tin cans. I have a backyard BBQ every year to celebrate Tuvan Independence Day, on the Saturday nearest August 15.

Where and when does your group meet?

That all sounds really cool. I'm looking forward to meeting and chatting with you. We usually gather Wednesdays at one of the members' homes, so I want to get his go-ahead before I give you his address; he's pretty lax about that stuff, though, so I'll prolly get back to you soon with the info. In the meantime, ya wanna meet for coffee or something? I'd suggest QVs unless you have another suggestion.

Hi. I just sent you the meeting info at the address listed on your LJ user page; I presume the account is still active. If not, send an email to the address listed on my user page and I'll post it off again.
