I was infected by [livejournal.com profile] cherdt!

It was a lot harder than I thought to dredge up 25 bands. I need to get out more.

I've seen none of these! and I don't think I've seen 25 bands. Does watching the Nutcracker Suite count?

No. All that extraneous leaping and hopping about should be done by the audience, not the performers.

Christ, I've never seen 25 bands... I'm pretty jealous of your list though!

My sad little list is thus:
1. INXS (1990 in Vancouver @ the colusieum)
2. Nickelback (not that long after the first cd, they were so famous that they played @ The Queen's in Nanaimo)
3. Honeymoon Suite (1998 maybe.. they also played at a bar, The PressRoom in Nanaimo, had to go for nostalgia's sake)
4. The Misfits (2001? @ The Icehouse in Victoria)
5. Cannibal Corpse (2004, @ some club in Victoria)

I've seen an assortment of other people play but, mostly crap that other people dragged me too, mostly very forgettable (since I've forgotten)

Well, don't feel bad - I had to dig up a couple of relative unknowns to fill out the 25, but they were all bands I liked.

I've got 5 of those: Skinny Puppy, Eisturzende Neubaten, Voltaire, Kodo, and Laibach.

What you may lack in quantity of concerts it appears you have made up for in quality--there are quite a few acts on your list I would have liked to have seen.

I agree! I've never been a fervent concert-goer, but I like my music and I am patient.

Still a few people I would like to see live (e.g. Diamanda Galas) but I'm mostly happy with the list.

**gets depressed**

I think my only shot at having a chance to reach up to 25 would be to toss in a bunch of harpsichordists (they're live performers, right ;) ?) And yet, since i'm of the obsessive type who goes seeing the same thing on and on and on, i'm not sure i would manage, still..

Anyhow.. quality, not quantity, i'd say :D

I saw them in April 2001, at the Experience Music Project, near the Seattle Centre, a building that looks like an enormous lump of chewed tinfoil. Built by one of the Microsoft Millionaires who wanted a rock n' roll museum.

The concert was great. Molly Harvey was there. It was the tour promoting the "Icky Flix" DVD. They were not in eyeball costumes except for one guy at the beginning and end of the show. They played behind screens with stong lights strapped to their heads so you could not see their faces.

If there were no windows
That we sit inside
If there were no ugly feelings
Would we be alive?

Damn! I really don't get out much. My sad, short little list goes like this:

1. Platinum Blonde (at Expo 86!!)
1b. Boys Don't Cry (one hit wonders -- I Wanna Be A Cowboy -- who opened for Platinum Blonde above)
2. Gowan (Royal Theatre)
3. Billy Joel (Vancouver Colliseum)
4. Depeche Mode (Vancouver Colliseum)
5. Bob Dylan (can't remember who opened for Dylan -- a woman I think? The concert was at the old Memorial Arena and I think the opening act performed as long a set as Dylan)
6. Moxy Fruvous (Harpo's)
7. Doug and the Slugs (maybe the Forge?)

There must be others (I know there are a host of smaller local bands whose names escape me right now) but these are the only ones I remember...

I remember that one-hit wonder song. I also remember being ultra-angry at missing not only Einsturzende Neubauten, but also Test Department (another good industrial-noise band) at Expo 86, since I found out about it weeks after the fact!

The Severed Heads/ Skinny Puppy show (1986) was interesting. It was at the University of Washington in Seattle. Severed Heads opened for Skinny Puppy and there were audio problems - Tom Ellard stopped playing several times and threatened to leave and never play there again, and I don't think he ever did.

Nomeansno is from my very own town, Victoria. They used to play at all the local concerts. Andy Kerr worked in a paint store for a long time. I don't know where they are now, Vancouver I guess.

I'll try... I went to about 100 concerts but that has more to do with the fact I was an event-manager, and not that I found the bands very interrested.

01. Neubauten (8 times, even with FM.Einheit)
02. Kraftwerk
03. Laibach
04. Lydia Lunch (3 times)
05. Diamanda Galas (5 times)
06. NIN (2 times)
07. TOOL (3 times)
08. Nirvana (yes, I have seen them...)
09. Duran Duran (at a time they still where good an hot)
10. Ngoma
11. Kong (still very sad they split-up)
12. Senser
13. David Bowie
14. Iggy and the Stooges
15. Incubus (one of the best concerts I have seen)
16. Mars Volta
17. Georgette Dee (3 times)

20. Primus
21. Meret Becker

23. Union Carbide Productions
24. Audioslave
25. Red Hot Chilie Peppers (still with Hillel Slovak and the "socks")
